Microneedling Checklist

Microneedling At-Home Checklist

Do not needle if you have active acne, cold sores, open wounds, eczema/psoriasis flare, infection, or if you are on/just finished isotretinoin.

Choose a short needle (0.25–0.5 mm) for home use. Leave deeper needling to professionals.

Disinfect device head in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 5–10 minutes before and after use.

Cleanse face with a gentle cleanser, pat dry with a clean towel.

Optionally apply sterile hyaluronic acid or water as a glide serum.

Divide face into zones (forehead, cheeks, nose, chin).

Roll/press in vertical, horizontal, and diagonal directions. 2–6 passes per zone. Lift device between passes. Use gentle, even pressure.

After treatment, apply a soothing, non-irritating serum (like hyaluronic acid). Avoid actives (retinoids, vitamin C, acids) for 24–72 hours.

Avoid makeup, sweating, hot tubs, saunas, or swimming for 24–48 hours.

Wear SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week.

Clean and store device safely. Replace when needles dull or per manufacturer instructions.

Stop and seek medical help if you notice spreading redness, pus, pain, or fever (signs of infection).
